Saved by the Run: My Hone Health 5K Event with Mario Lopez, Dan Churchill & Othership NYC

I was invited to join Hone Health, Mario Lopez, and Dan Churchill for a special 5K event with Othership Flatiron — and let’s just say, it wasn’t your average run.

This was such a well organized event. Thank you to Hone Health & Othership for hosting!

Mario Lopez, actor & TV host

Dan Churchill, performance chef & endurance athlete

Inside, we experienced their signature sauna class — 25 minutes of guided meditation and stretch inside a glowing, red-lit sauna. It felt like a moving meditation — breathing through the heat, letting go of any resistance, and allowing your body to soften after the run.

The moment everyone talks about — the ice plunge. Two minutes. Cold enough to take your breath away, but grounding enough to make you feel alive. I remember stepping into the plunge, surrounded by flickering candles and the hum of calm. The instructor guided us through slow, steady breathing. In that stillness, I realized: this was the true finish line — not the end of a race, but the return to your own presence.

Othership is a BEAUTIFUL studio. This is a lounging space to catch a breath, sip tea, be still.

This experience was more than a wellness event. It was a reminder that recovery is just as sacred as effort. That stillness is part of strength. Running with Mario Lopez and Dan Churchill brought the energy. Recovering with Othership brought the grounding. And together, they created balance — effort and ease, heat and cold, movement and rest. For me, it was a full-circle morning — running through the city that never stops, only to end up in a space that asks you to pause. If you’ve been looking for ways to merge fitness with mindfulness, this experience is your sign. Because the real race isn’t about speed — it’s about presence.
